FROM THE HON SECRETARY:

From the Hon Secretary:

As some of you will know I am going to resign from the post of Secretary/Treasurer of the PT Reunion club at the 2008 PT Reunion. Having moved to Scotland just after the last reunion, I feel that I am now a bit too remote to do the job to the best of my ability and no longer have the close contact with CTCRM.

I have really enjoyed being your secretary over the last few years and thank you for your support over that time. I would especially like to thank Peter for his enthusiasm and energy as Chairman, and hope that with his guidance, the PT Reunion club will continue to go from strength to strength.

I have more challenges to look forward to, one of which is being involved with the formation of the Highland Branch of the RMA. Surprisingly enough, there are quite a few former Royal Marines in the Inverness area and the challenge is to find them all and get this newest branch on the map.

My second challenge is playing my bagpipes. Living in the country means that I can do this without any hassle from the neighbours, and some people even like the sound!!
I am a member of the Northern Constabulary Pipe Band, based in Inverness, and the band is essentially a competition band who takes part in the major piping championships throughout the summer. My big challenge is to be able to play with them in competitions, not just street events.

Contrary to popular belief, the highlands of Scotland are not cold and wet all of the time and it’s only on the islands that they speak Gaelic and eat their own children!

Nicky and I send our best wishes to all in the reunion club for a Happy Christmas and a prosperous New Year. I hope to see many of you at the next PT Reunion, please do your best to make it the best attended yet. All good wishes,

Alastair Mackenzie

Tribute to Mac:

Alastair (Mac) Mackenzie has been a wonderful supporter and great strength to me during my tenure as your Hon Chairman. I am very sad to lose him as Secretary as he has done an outstanding job and greatly helped us to consolidate and promote the PT Reunion Club as a worthwhile entity within the corps and one that other branches greatly admire and would love to emulate. So a very big “thank you” to Mac for all of his very fine efforts and all good wishes to him and Nicky for a happy future in their chosen location.

Needless to say, we are now looking for a suitable replacement and if anyone would like to offer their help in this task we would be most grateful.
Peter Brown.
